EQUIPMENT once used daily by staff at Ostwald Bros Pty Ltd will be up for grabs at an auction next week, three months after the company went into liquidation.

Held by Slattery Auctions and Valuations, company representative Keith Flynn said a wide range of things would be going under the hammer.

"There's a good cross-section of gear, including commercial vehicles, service trucks, prime movers, concrete agitators, plus all of the earthmoving gear, which is graters, scrapers and compactors," Mr Flynn said.

"There's also plenty of workshop equipment, tooling and spare parts."

With plenty of interest already brewing in the two-day event, Mr Flynn is anticipating plenty of prospective buyers to throw their hats in the ring next week.

"We've had huge interest so far; from every state in the country and also international interest on the big gear in particular.

"We're expecting a huge amount of people. The inquiries have been incredible - we've never seen anything like it. So there should be a massive crowd here on the day and in cyberspace.

"We have a live auction here on-site and you can bid live in real time online at home; so it's a traditional auction with also an online bidding platform."

Mr Flynn said if there was one reason why people should attend, it was the quality of products that would be available.

"It's an opportunity to buy gear from a very well-known fleet. A lot of this stuff came straight out of work, so it will be able to go straight back to work. And a lot of it is Cat, Kenworth and Toyota; so it's the three brands you really want. If there's one auction you're going to go to it's this one.

"There will be reserves on the items that are in line with our valuations, but the idea is to sell it all on the day."

The auction will be held next Thursday, March 22 and Friday, March 23 at the Ostwald Bros former site on Winton St.

Prospective buyers are encouraged to attend the inspection days on-site next Monday to Wednesday, so they can view the items first-hand.
