Herald team wins statewide awards

THE Dalby Herald has returned from the 2018 Queensland Country Press Awards with a swag of prizes, continuing its reputation as one of the premier newspapers in rural Queensland.

Media sales consultant Ashleigh Griffiths was awarded the distinguished honour of Advertising Sales Person of the Year, and was stoked to be recognised in such a manner.

"I love working with my clients in Dalby, we have a great rapport with them,” Miss Griffiths said.

"It's a great achievement for me after only being in this position for just over a year.

"It's nice to be recognised by my peers and the industry.”

Journalists Sam Flanagan (third) and Michael Doyle (highly commended) were also recognised for their hard work in the Young Journalist of the Year category.

The Dalby Herald was also awarded second place in both the Best Newspaper employing two or less Journalists category and Most Improved Newspaper.

Other Dalby Herald products to receive awards included Our Business Excellence Awards feature and Caricature Calendar.

Dalby Herald manager Nicole McDougall said it was a good night for her team.

"It's great to receive awards and be recognised at the QCPA because it means we're on the right track as a paper,” Mrs McDougall said.

"I'm confident we'll keep heading in the right direction.”
