Foodies come flying in for One Long Table
THE countdown is on for the foodie festival of the year - One Long Table 2019.
Chinchilla's Heeney St will come alive next Saturday afternoon with just about every national cuisine you can think of, and it's not just local residents who are lining up to fill their plates.
Chinchilla Aero Club president John Dingley said high flyers from around the region will be touching down on Chinchilla's runway to get a taste of all the action.
"It's a wonderful excuse to get in your plane and come for a visit,” Mr Dingley said.
"We had several planes fly in to attend One Long Table three years ago and it's all taken off since then.”
Chinchilla Community Commerce and Industry Inc. event organiser Gaye Smith said the CCCI are honoured to have the aero club on board for this year's One Long Table.
"It's always nice to have community clubs and groups want to get more involved with the events and activities we organise throughout the year and the aero club have been a great support,” Gaye said.
"It's a brilliant way to entice visitors from out of town to make a trip to Chinchilla for the weekend, and hopefully stay in town and support our local economy, which is what the event is all about after all.”
While Saturday is for feasting, next Sunday is for flying with the aero club hosting a coffee and barbecue brunch out at the airfield from 8am with all flyers and enthusiasts welcome to attend.
